PARKING & SHUTTLE TRANSPORTATION

 Parking for dignitaries and those disabled, elderly, or frail will be at Kittery Town Hall, 200 Rogers Road.  An accessible shuttle bus will ferry those from the front of Town Hall to the Circle and return.

 

That portion of State Road from the North end of “Sunrise Grill” to the Circle will be closed off and traffic cones placed for walkers to and from the Town Hall.

 

General parking is available at Traip Academy at 12 Williams Ave;  Frisbee Common at 120 Rogers Road; and, Shapleigh Middle School at 43 Stevenson Road.  Shuttle transportation will be provided beginning at 8:15am and for return after the ceremony.

 

Marshalling assistants will be present at each location.  Event programs will be provided at each of those locations, as well as in the event  seating area .

 

Parking at Memorial  Circle area businesses is not allowed.

 

TRAFFIC CONTROL

Proper and safe movement of all road users including vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians, including persons with disabilities with trained traffic control personnel provided by Kittery and Eliot Police Departments.  Advanced Warning and Detour signing will be placed as shown in Plan of Action.  Emergency response vehicles are exempted from the detour.

 

Traffic will be detoured:

 

Southbound on Rte 236 will be directed to the Rte 1 Bypass

 

Northbound to Coastal Rte 1 and I95 from Shapleigh-Rogers Road will continue to Rogers Road   and North as normal

 

Northbound Rte 236 traffic will be directed to Rogers Road and the U-turn left at the end of Ox Point Drive to the Bypass and thence North at the intersection

 

Traffic will be rerouted away from the Circle at the Bypass off ramp  and Old Post Road.

 

Northbound State Road traffic will be rerouted at the intersection of Walker Street and State Road

 

Traffic controls will be placed at Wallingford Square - Walker Street intersection and at the Orchard Grove Cemetery at the Rogers & Shapleigh intersection.  Advisory and detour signs will be placed in other key locations

 

SEATING

200 guest seats will be available.  The front two rows to the right of the podium are reserved for Thresher Family elderly, frail, and disabled.  The front two rows to the left of the podium are reserved for dignitaries and major contributors.  The rear two rows on both sides are reserved for family members at large.  Any reserved seat not occupied at 8:55am may be used.

 

All other attendees are standing room only.  Please note the locations of the ceremonial participants and avoid those areas.

 

An ambulance and fire truck will be parked at ‘The Dog Stand” for emergencies.
