ON THIS ANNIVERSARY OF A DAY OF DAYS, 9/11,
LANG'S LANDSCAPING BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF MEMORIAL PARK
Memorial Park, Kittery Maine, September 11, 2013 morning.
Construction work began at the Kittery Memorial Park in memory of Kittery
residents that have served their country and community.
This includes the USS Thresher Memorial Courtyard, with a 10' tall
x 4' wide Thresher Memorial Monument granite stone with a 3' x' 3' bronze memorial
plaque listing the 129 persons that died on April 10, 1963. The courtyard will be
constructed of architectural pavers and granite
stones inscribed as requested by donors. The courtyard also will feature memorial
landscaping and granite benches. The Courtyard
will be centered on the axis with the 129' tall Memorial Flag located in the Kittery
At the center of the Memorial Park will be a 3' tall x 12' long x 5'
wide Memorial Water Basin granite stone. It will be surrounded by flowering plantings.
Surrounding the Memorial Water Basin will be the Circle of Honor; an
8' feet wide path with granite stone edging.
Around the Circle areas are planned for future memorials.
Also surrounding the Circle will be six Memorial Trees featuring white
flowering spring blossoms and future benches.
Also at the Park, a Memorial Evergreen Tree will be planted in conjunction
with two other fir trees to create an evergreen background for the park.
