USS Thresher

Top of the class, finer than the rest

A submarine leader, considered the best

On maiden trial run, checking her out

Tests ran well, inside and out

Trouble started, not sure how

The men on board with wrinkled brow

Designed to run, deeper than most

Now the deep was trouble for the Boat

As Thresher sank down to her grave

No chance for life to save

With the 129 she was out of control

Now the crew is on eternal patrol

To the Thresher crew we salute with pride

We remember them on every tide

She was not to last, so Nature decreed

And now eternally She patrols the seas.
